01 — AboutWhat Pipeline Bio is
Pipeline Bio is an online Platform that simplifies how biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medtech, and research organisations find and engage external scientific Service Providers. It addresses a core problem: outsourcing research and development is essential, but identifying, evaluating, and engaging the right Providers is slow, fragmented, and opaque.
The Platform brings structure, transparency, and efficiency to scientific outsourcing by centralising how research teams discover and engage Australian Service Providers. Rather than relying on personal networks, ad hoc searches, and manual outreach, Customers work from a structured Directory of Service Providers organised by a consistent Capability Taxonomy.
Pipeline Bio Pty Ltd is an Australian company co-founded by Nenad Sejic (Managing Director) and James Cooney (Business Director). The current stage of the Platform, Pipeline Bio Connect, provides discovery, structured search, an AI Search Agent, and enquiry and RFP submission. It is not a matchmaking agency and does not guarantee Provider quality; it provides the infrastructure through which Customers evaluate and engage Providers directly.
02 — CapabilityWhat the Platform does
Pipeline Bio centralises scientific and specialist service discovery across Australia. Through the Platform, research teams can:
- Search a structured Directory of Service Providers, including contract research organisations, contract manufacturers, specialist laboratories, academic facilities, and consultancies.
- Navigate a Catalogue of Services organised by the Capability Taxonomy, spanning the full research and development lifecycle.
- Compare Providers side by side across capabilities, Location, and Quality and Compliance Accreditations.
- Draft structured Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and submit enquiries directly to Providers through the Platform.
- Use an AI Search Agent to surface relevant Providers and capabilities from natural, goal-oriented queries.
- Access support for evidence relevant to Australia's Research and Development Tax Incentive, including documentation relevant to Overseas Finding applications.
The Platform is Australia-focused. Teams anywhere in the world can use Pipeline Bio to find and engage Australian Service Providers, which makes it particularly relevant to international organisations evaluating Australian R&D capability. Only Australian organisations list as Service Providers.

05 — For CustomersBiotech, pharma, and research teams
Pipeline Bio enables research teams to discover, evaluate, and engage Australian scientific and specialist Service Providers through a structured, centralised Platform, reducing the time, friction, and uncertainty involved in external R&D procurement. The Platform helps teams connect with the right Service Providers faster, without the typical frustrations of ad hoc searches and cold outreach.
Customers prepare structured RFPs, submit enquiries directly to Providers, communicate through in-built Chat, and, on Pro, export Project Summary Reports and share enquiries and RFPs across a team.
06 — For Service ProvidersAustralian CROs, CDMOs, labs, and consultancies
Pipeline Bio increases the visibility and reach of Australian Service Providers to biotech, medtech, pharma, and research teams through a structured, Australia-focused discovery Platform that supports direct enquiries and streamlined engagement, at no cost. Listing and managing a Storefront is free.
A Storefront gives a Provider structured visibility, Service Listings organised by the Capability Taxonomy, and direct Chat with prospective Customers. Providers manage their presence through the Storefront Management Portal.
07 — EcosystemThe Australian life-sciences ecosystem, mapped
In July 2026, Pipeline Bio published an analysis of the Australian fee-for-service life-sciences Provider landscape, drawn from the Pipeline Bio Database. As of that snapshot, the Database held 258 Providers publishing 5,944 fee-for-service capabilities, mapped across the Capability Taxonomy. The report was authored by James Cooney and Nenad Sejic.
The analysis found that Australian fee-for-service R&D capability spans the full research and development value chain, with particular depth in clinical delivery and pharmaceutical manufacturing in Victoria and New South Wales, and a Provider base that skews towards specialist rather than generalist organisations. The report maps this distribution across eight core categories of the value chain and considers what it means for both biotechs sourcing capability and Providers positioning their services. Collaboration and licensing capabilities are being added to the Platform and sit outside these fee-for-service counts.
08 — QuestionsFrequently asked questions
Using the Platform
- Who can use Pipeline Bio?
- Pipeline Bio is open to anyone involved in scientific research and development. Our Members are from the biotech, medtech, pharma, and academic sectors, who use the Platform to find and connect with listed Provider Organisations. Providers may be CROs, CDMOs, biotech and specialist service organisations, and academic facilities.
- Can teams outside Australia use Pipeline Bio?
- Yes. Teams from anywhere in the world can use Pipeline Bio to find and engage Australian Providers.
- Is Pipeline Bio affiliated with any providers, research institutions or government agencies?
- Pipeline Bio operates independently and is not affiliated with Providers, research institutions, or government agencies. We act solely as a facilitator, connecting Members with Providers through the Platform. All Providers on Pipeline Bio are independent entities responsible for their own capabilities and services.
- What capabilities does Pipeline Bio cover?
- Pipeline Bio covers a wide range of scientific, technical, and support capabilities used across the R&D lifecycle, from early discovery through to manufacturing and clinical development. Capabilities may include pre-clinical research such as in vivo studies, analytical testing, and bioassays, through to manufacturing and clinical development activities.
For Service Providers
- How does an organisation get listed as a Provider?
- There is no cost for organisations to create or edit a storefront and list their capabilities on Pipeline Bio. If your organisation provides capabilities to third parties in the life sciences sector in Australia, you can create a new storefront by clicking the “Get listed” button on the homepage and completing the short form. Pipeline Bio verifies details before a listing goes live.
- My organisation is already listed. How do I take control of the storefront?
- If your organisation already appears in the Pipeline Bio directory, you can claim and manage your listing at any time by clicking the “Get listed” button on the homepage and completing the short form. After you create your free account, Pipeline Bio verifies that you are an authorised representative before granting access.
- Can academic laboratories and research institutes join?
- Yes. Academic laboratories, core facilities, and research institutes are welcome to join Pipeline Bio and list their organisation. The Platform helps showcase their capabilities, connect with industry partners, and make academic expertise more accessible to biotech, medtech, and pharma teams.
- I've received an email about an enquiry but am not yet a registered Provider. How do I respond?
- When a Member submits an enquiry about your capabilities, you will receive an email notification summarising their request. If the Member has consented to share their contact details, these will be included so you can respond directly. If no contact details are shown, you will first need to register to respond through the Platform.
- How do I send an enquiry to a Provider?
- Once you have found a suitable Provider capability, open their storefront and click “Send enquiry” on the relevant listing, or click “Send enquiry” on the relevant capability. You will be asked to provide a short message if you are requesting more information.
Enquiries and RFPs
- How do I send a Request for Proposal (RFP) to a Provider?
- An RFP is created from the standard Pipeline Bio RFP template, designed to capture key project details such as study objectives, timelines, and required capabilities. Once generated, your RFP becomes a live, editable document that you can update at any time and share with as many Providers as you choose.
- Can I update an RFP after sharing it?
- Yes. Because RFPs on Pipeline Bio are live editable documents, you can update your RFP at any time, even after sharing it with Providers. Updated versions become available to Providers with access to the RFP, so you can refine your requirements as your project evolves.
- Does Pipeline Bio help me identify suitable Providers?
- Yes. Pipeline Bio provides tools to help you identify the most suitable Providers for your project, including the searchable Directory of Service Providers, standardised storefronts, the Capability Taxonomy, and an AI Search Agent that can answer specific queries and guide your search.
- Does Pipeline Bio process payments or manage contracts?
- No. Payments are not processed on the Platform. Members and Providers can exchange quotes and related documents directly through Pipeline Bio, but all commercial terms, invoicing, contracting, and payments are agreed and handled directly between the Member and the Provider.
- Does Pipeline Bio provide an NDA between Members and Providers?
- Pipeline Bio’s standard user terms do not include a confidentiality agreement or NDA between Members and Providers. If your enquiry or RFP contains sensitive technical or commercial information, we recommend arranging an NDA directly with the Provider before sharing details.
Membership and billing
- How is Pipeline Bio billed?
- Pipeline Bio memberships are billed annually. Your subscription renews each year, and your membership, renewal date, invoices, and billing details can be managed through your billing account.
- Will I be reminded before my membership renews?
- Yes. Pipeline Bio sends a reminder 30 days before your membership is due to renew, giving you time to review your membership, update billing information, or make changes before renewal.
- Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel my membership?
- Yes. You can manage membership changes through your billing account. Upgrades are confirmed after any changes are shown to you. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period, and if you cancel, your access remains active until the end of your current paid period.
- How are payments processed?
